The purpose of this blog is to chronicle my son, Chance’s, journey from having severe emotional trauma that resulted in debilitating anxiety, including very wild, physically aggressive panic attacks along with destructive and self-injurious behaviors, in spite of being on five medications, to a place of greater peace with less medication by using natural supplements and faith-based strategies and prayers.
It is my hope that this very open and honest account will be a help to others who struggle with similar issues, no matter the root cause, and will be an encouragement to try this approach if they are not satisfied with the results they are getting with traditional protocols.
In order to understand what happened with Chance, I need to give you the backstory as this was a progressive issue through his life that consisted of multiple traumatic events and emotional breakdowns of varying degrees that culminated in a horrible downhill emotional spiral the likes of which I have never seen in my life and pray to God that I never see or experience again!
In order to explain things fully, I have to share details of incidents that happened in Chance’s life that involve his biological mother and later on attorneys and a family court judge. I will only share what I need to in order for the reader to understand the situation. Please know that I do not present this information from a place of bitterness, unforgiveness, or mean-spiritedness of any kind.
Admittedly, I went through many years of being very angry and bitter and spoke very negatively about all involved in the events that caused Chance’s demise, but God dealt with me about those things. I repented of all the bitterness, unforgiveness, and things that I said about them. I forgave them and prayed for them to make things right with God and to live a life of peace and purpose and to also let us live our life in peace.
It doesn’t make what happened right, but I am trusting “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose,” according to Romans 8:28.
I ask that the reader simply take note of these events to get an understanding of Chance’s issues, but please do not think or speak negatively about the parties involved as that is not my intent in chronicling his journey. If anything, join me in prayer for them.
One must understand how severe Chance’s issues became in order to fully appreciate the miracle that is taking place in him now!
